Why I Should Hate You

Posted in Uncategorized by carbonkink on June 14, 2009

I can truly say that I’ve surprised myself with my patience and tolerance of his bullshit over 2 years. The only good that came out of this is I’ll have interesting anecdotes aplenty about an unbelievably self-centred ex-boyfriend. Yes, read my earlier posts and I said all I’ll remember is the happy stuff LOL MY ASS

Here are some of my selected favourite moments, in no particular order.

Watchmen OST

Posted in Uncategorized by carbonkink on March 21, 2009

Belated rave of the very awesome soundtrack. 3 Dylan tracks and – god forbid, the original Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen (used to maximum comical effect, no less)! Hallelujah has, of course, been covered to death and popularized in Shrek and the OC, so it was nice that they picked the original. It’s probably one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded.

Special mention also goes out to Hendrix’s definitive version of All Along the Watchtower, used aptly in the scene where Night Owl and Rorschach, the “2 riders”, are making their way to Veidt’s tower.

Definitely one of the best film soundtrack in years.

Of Montreal @ Mosaic

Posted in Uncategorized by carbonkink on March 21, 2009

60 minutes of trippy juxtapositions. Of Montreal has changed quite a bit since I last heard them, but I’m glad they’re enjoying more attention now (thanks to being featured in the OC).

Being there reminded me of a time when I was younger, and undoubtedly far more interesting than I am now.

WoW Tuesday: Tampopo @ Liang Court

Posted in bimbo, food by carbonkink on March 5, 2009

So almost every Tuesday, I meet up with the good folks from NO MAAM.

This week we headed to Tampopo at Liang Court – I’ve heard so many good stuff about this place and boy it did not disappoint. I had the Miso Deluxe Ramen, it was really flavourful and the bamboo shoots were oh so yummy. The egg was perfect too – the yolk was molten as it should be. I literally slurped it up. One egg was enough for me though… not that I’m in any way mindful of my cholesterol levels, I just don’t like too much “eggy” stuff, which is probably why I never had a thing for carbonara (one of the few pastas I do not enjoy). On the other hand, the others had 2-3 eggs each. Amazing.

Miso Deluxe Ramen @ Tampopo

In case you’re wondering, I had already started on it when it occurred to me I should take a picture – hence the presentation’s a little messed up.

Faith the alien

Posted in bimbo, emo by carbonkink on March 2, 2009

My new haircut makes me look like an alien slash space mushroom, I SWEAR. Why, why does shit always happen to me?

I know you say this because you love me, but please stop asking me to cut my hair shorter, dye my hair ASH GREY and put styling clay because a) I can’t be bothered, and b) I’m not a boy! I don’t want to be cool, or hip, or look like a pre-pubescent indie kid. I cannot pull off Selma Blair’s uber cool hair because I AM NOT SELMA BLAIR. I am truly sorry if that means my sense of style is traditional, boring and behind by 10 years.

Goddammit.

IT’S PAYDAY

Posted in bimbo, style by carbonkink on February 25, 2009

I want to go shopping! I NEED TO GET A BOMBER JACKET!! @#$@!%!

BUT, I’ll be occupied from Friday evening and all throughout Saturday. Sundays are usually spent lazing around with the boyfriend. That leaves me with tomorrow to shop. I hate shopping after work, it always feels so rushed. Sigh… but I need that jacket!

Valentine’s 2009

Posted in bimbo by carbonkink on February 23, 2009

I don’t remember EVER having celebrated Valentine’s Day, last year’s was ruined due to an exam, and I don’t recall anything about previous years’. Not that they were forgettable, whoever I was with… just blame my stupid short-term memory.

Well, I think I’m going to remember Valentine’s 2009 for a very long time… :)

First stop of the day was shopping with Skye at FEP! Crazy girl bought an entire outfit for The White Party, and then some!

crrrazy shopping day!

At about 6, just when Skye had to leave… Mitch arrived, and with a little blue box! He wanted it to be a surprise but I kinda already knew he was at Tiffany’s the previous day. I just didn’t know which design he chose.

After walking around, we decided to go to Mr. Bean at Prinsep for dinner, away from town and the crowds. True enough, it was DAMN EMPTY! But the service still sucked despite the small number of patrons. Mitch went for the Banger’s and Mash while I had some pasta thing… didn’t even finish half of it. I blame Skye for making me eat her nuggets before that!!

At Mr. Bean, I finally opened my present… the necklace was really nice, but the real highlight was the handwritten card inside. I was quite touched. He kept insisting I don’t read it in front of him cos he’ll be embarrassed, but I did anyway :D

2nd half of the day

After dinner we headed home to chill and catch up with TV shows… then it was back to town for a midnight movie with Ah Loi! We caught Valkyrie, which was pretty good but nothing to shout about. I just watched The Reader the day before, so it was like Nazi overdose…

Stayed over at Mitch’s and on Sunday, we went to buy his iPhone at Tampines Mall. Shit la I’m so filled with iPhone envy, everyone around me has one! Skye, Loi, Dan, Mey, like everyone! And Skye put this screen protector that turns into a mirror… so useful can. I also want.

We watched Slumdog Millionaire that evening… awesome movie. Of course, it just won 8 Oscars earlier today.. :D

Totally unrelated, but here’s a little YouTube gem to share… this guy has the most amazing voice. I’ve bookmarked all his videos… it won’t be a stretch to say that his covers sound better than the original.

Good night world.

When all the fingers are pointed at me, where can I run?

You’re not here.

so tired!

Posted in bimbo, geek by carbonkink on November 13, 2008

I’m soooo sleepy. Been sleeping <5 hours every night for the past week. There’s just not enough time to do everything…

Bought an early x’mas present for Mitch:

The PCPC PSU is mine :) Mitch eventually exchanged the 4870X2 for a GTX280. Well, these 2 purchases left me utterly broke for the month. I’ve been surviving on a $100/week budget. It’s been 3 weeks, so far so good! Just another 2 more weeks to payday! What I’m been aiming for:

Can’t wait for the Gucci year-end sale!

Anyway, the same day we bought the card, Ben collected his Frostmourne and we were there to be “a part of it”, so to speak:

It’s damn huge laa I swear.

WOTLK comes out tomorrow and I just made the necessary preparations. Said my goodbye’s to the old Revelation peeps and transferred Xeryn to Blackrock… finally took the plunge. I’ll miss all my old friends in Barthilas. It’s been, what, 2 years? Well, Xeryn had a good run.

Anyhow, I hope the character transfer gets completed quick (before I reach home tomorrow). Downloading the WOTLK client now so I may not have to get my copy from Mitch after all.

To you: I was so looking forward to having fun levelling in Wrath… and once again I’m bitterly disappointed. But, once again, I understand. I just hope I don’t explode from sheer unhappiness this weekend. It’s so ironic that WoW was the starting point for us, and yet might be the biggest contributor to the ending. What changed? Was it me?

Filling in the gaps

Posted in bimbo by carbonkink on September 28, 2008

It’s been a while!

I’ve already started work at the place I’ve always wanted to be and I’m really happy. I wasn’t sure if I’d made the right decision at first, having turned down more lucrative offers for this job. But I can foresee myself being happy here, that’s for sure, and like darling always tells me, being happy is the most important thing.

Baby and I spent lots of time together during my jobhunt/lobo period. I went to his house almost everyday and the midnight cab fare home burnt a huge hole in our pockets. Yes, there was a lot of friction and arguments during this period because of his WoW plans and I was growing increasingly short-tempered, but that’s all in the past and I only want to remember the happy stuff.

Baby knows I absolutely love the Garlic Prawn Pasta at Coffee Club so he suggested we try cooking aglio olio spaghetti one evening. We got all the ingredients from Cold Storage and proceeded to cook… the first time was quite disastrous cos we added the WHOLE packet of pasta, not knowing that it can probably serve 5-6. Result: too little condiments & flavoring, too much pasta. We refused to give up and tried again the following week, this time it was much better! We even added our favorite tiger prawns to it and it was really, really delicious. Some pics:

Work In Progress! Frying the garlic, portobello mushroom, chilli and sausages before adding the pasta.

Final product, complete with pasta and yummy tiger prawns! Success!

Now I really wanted to go to Wala’s before I started work (haven’t been there in over a year). And so I did! I had Indran, Nic and Nic’s friend YH for company :) It was somewhat disappointing, they played a lot of slow songs. The only heavy songs they played were Master of Puppets and Whole Lotta Love. Not to mention we had to stand throughout all 3 sets despite having arrived at 9.30pm… shall go earlier next time!

Indran and I outside Wala’s in between sets

It was also my first time meeting up with Indran in MONTHS. So good to catch up! I’ve been feeling a lil guilty about neglecting my friends because of him… but everything’s ok now. Met up with Indran again on Tuesday for a nice dinner at Olio Dome, and then coffee + bitching at Spinelli’s! I wish I could’ve stayed longer but I was so tired after waking up at 6am for work… still need to get used to it.

First weekend after starting work
My first week at work wasn’t stressful at all, probably because it was still the ‘orientation’ period. Even then, I couldn’t be happier to welcome the weekend! Headed back to baby’s house to shower on Friday, then we were off to Dan Ryan’s for dinner.

We both had the clam chowder bread boule and a ribeye steak. The clam chowder was excellent, but the steak was sorely disappointing. There was no prepared steak sauce – we had to use the Kraft one. It was so sour and totally ruined the taste. The steak was also really dry even though I ordered medium-rare.

We were supposed to watch Heroes after dinner but I was so tired I just fell asleep haha. Poor baby had to watch episode 1 by himself. We slept till 11am the next day and I made him watch the first episode of Heroes with me again! After that we lazed about until 3pm then went over to Jamie’s house to get some computer stuff done. Baby spent close to $500 on the Silverstone TJ10 casing – it’s the biggest casing I’ve ever seen. It’s so he can fit in his GTX280. The brushed aluminum looks so sleek. There are also green LED lights which I find really beng-ish but my boy likes them, what to do ): Makes me so gian to upgrade my own computer…

I’ve missed out some stuff of course… haven’t blogged about baby’s birthday BBQ at Ben’s house. But I’ll save that for later. Going shopping today :)
